Bringing the World into the Classroom

Peace Corps
The Peace Corps has loads of great resources including lesson plans, a program where your class can correspond with an active Peace Corp Volunteer and ways to have a Peace Corp volunteer speak in your classroom.

We also like their simple e-books on topics that everyone can relate to, like communities and school.  There are also beautiful e-books about specific communities where Peace Corp Volunteers have worked.

Journeys in Film
This organization matches beautifully made foreign films in English and units and lesson plans for middle school students.  Students have the opportunity to learn key standards based concepts while also having a deep experience of the culture.  Films are currently available from Iran, South Africa, the Maori culture, South Korea, Tibet, India and China.
