PEF has a two part mission. In developing countries, we believe a holistic approach to education is essential, not only providing access to quality education, but also medical and nutritional support, teacher training and parent education. Our long term project involves a primary school in Port-au- Prince, Haiti that serves students who would otherwise not have access to a school due to extreme poverty.
In developed countries, we strive to raise students' awareness and sensitivity to global issues by developing compassion and empathy through interactive lesson plans and meaningful service projects. We are able to show students a direct connection with the work they have done and their impact on our school in Haiti. Connecting students, teachers, parents and others in the developed world to those in the developing world creates a mutually beneficial relationship that elevates academic standards in both settings by creating access to critical resources in vulnerable schools and global awareness in stable schools.
Every child deserves an education. Whether a child is learning to read and write or learning to how to take an active role in their community, the lessons they learn will shape their view of the world and how they live their life.
