Mama Rocks, Papa Sings by: Nancy Van Laan The children’s book, Mama Rocks, Papa Sings by Nacy Van Laan, gives children and adults an opportunity to read about a story based on a true event in Haiti. The novel comes with a Glossary of Creole words to reference while reading. In the novel, many children are left at the home of a foreign mother and father while their real parents try to earn a living. This was based off of the Blackburn family who adopted twenty-eight children. Although the plot line of the story may seem sad, like most stories, it ends with a happy ending. http://www.amazon.com/Mama-Rocks-Papa-Sings-Nancy/dp/0679840168
