Education Transforms Lives

Few things can have an impact that lasts for generations. Education is one of them.  Over the past 8 years, children who had no other opportunity to get an education, enrolled in our school and became students. An education means more opportunities for the future, better jobs, healthier lives and safer living conditions. Thanks to our amazing Haitian staff, dedicated volunteers and support from our donors, hundreds of lives have been transformed. 

Mickerlange's Story
Mickerlange's life changed forever in 2010. Mickerlange is from a caring family, but had no prospect of attending school due to financial constraints. The only schools in her area charged tuition which was not an option for her family.  That all changed when our little school in a neighborhood in Port-au-Prince opened. Her father registered her the first year we opened our doors. Since then she has excelled in every academic skill and mastered the curriculum. Nutritious meals and medical care have kept her healthy and in school. The Saturday Club and Summer Program have provided her with the extra social and emotional support she needed to be a successful student. She students incredibly hard and has dreams of becoming a pediatrician, a dream now possible because of her education.

There are so many students like Mickerlange; students who work hard and understand the opportunity they've been given at our school. Each student has their own story, their own obstacles and their own dreams for the future. They work hard and are determined to make the most of this opportunity. With an education, our students will have the power to make a better life for themselves and a stronger community for their families.
